does anybody know?

how applications are processed? Is it by major or when the application was received or do they process applications starting w/the higher GPA's?

I applied in mid-november for engineering. I'm out of state have some good EC's, SATS 2010 (superscored w/750 math) and a 3.4+ GPA. Other kids from my high school have heard, but none are in engineering. These kids all have GPAs higher than mine but their SAT scores are lower. UCONN accepted 80% of applicants from our high school last year 75% the year before) and our naviance shows I should get in early action. Yet, I have not heard anything yet. My friend got an email last week and then the packet came a few days later.

Applications, with some exceptions, are received and reviewed together. They are processed when the application is considered complete.

You should be hearing by the end of this month or beginning of next. You have a good chance, though.

When your friend said they got an email and then it came later, an acceptance email or an email notifying them that their application is complete?

My friend got an email saying that his application was complete - this was ~12/9. Then got the acceptance package in the mail on the 12th. He applied in late October and right after he applied got a letter from UCONN saying the materials weren’t all there. That was all the communications he got until he got the email.

I applied end of Nov. EA never got an e-mail or anything. I have a GPA 3.75 and I am 17th out of 296. Some at my school have already been accepted. I am worried I won’t get in. SAT 1950

What is your intended major? I don’t know if they process all engineering together or all business together? I can’t figure it out. The longer it goes, the more I think I"m going to get deferred.

Generally, each school’s applications are sorted through separately. So no, business applicants are not considered next to engineering applicants.

I applied as Liberal Arts (english). I just have a bad feeling I won’t get in. It seems so competitive this year for UCONN

You have a good shot, fortune. Just be patient.

Thanks Philosopher. It is just hard when I know others at my school have received their acceptance letters. I hope I hear something before Christmas.

Thanks for the advice - it does make sense to do ‘schools’ at a time and the kids I know of in my school did not apply for engineering. There are a couple here, though, that I saw - but they just came out so maybe there’s hope. I’ve gotten in to a few state flagship engineering programs, but I do like UCONN a lot.

Hope you get in concerned. Maybe this will be our week.

i got deferred. letter came on the 18th and i was notified that my app was complete on the 9th also

I never got anything saying my application was complete or incomplete. Still no mail today :(

I applied EA mid-november and have heard nothing from the school while other students at my school have been accepted…

trackkid: what are your stats and what major did you apply for?

It makes you feel so discouraged when others in your school get in and you haven’t heard anything.

i applied for the liberal arts school for polysci in late october. i still haven’t received a decision but i know people who applied in novemeber and december who have gotten decisions, one of which applied for the business school and got accepted. i got 2 emails saying my application was complete like last month but never actually got a decision. i don’t know how they review apps or what their system is but it’s really strange and doesn’t seem to be in any particular order or organization.

3.42 gpa
1720 SAT
aces

My daughters applied the end of Nov. and haven’t heard yet and we are instate.

I definitely wouldn’t worry; they will let you all know by Feb. 1. Some people just hear before others. They don’t appear to have any rhyme or reason in the order of their decisions. I applied mid Oct. and people in my school heard before me who applied Nov. 29-30, so don’t fret.
