Pfft. It's in THE VALLEY.

Where exactly, anyway?

Pfft. It's in THE VALLEY.

Where exactly, anyway?

tarzana, like 2 blocks from ventura.

its reseda blvd/ventura intersection

i like the valley, its convinient, there is a WAMU on every corner and a Rite aid Ralphs combination or Longs Vons combination.... its like one gigantic mall.

South or North of Ventura?

I grew up actually less than 3 blocks from there. But I guess I can kinda... sorta...maybe see the good things in the Valley. The weather just blows.

south of ventura, on Mecca. ....... reseda turns into mecca, i like like at most 8 blocks from the entrance to Muholland park.

To me, the city is kinda like cluster of suburbs. If you ignore the cultural difference, the city and the valley don't look all that different. I don't think Westwood Village looks any more urban than Studio City. :)

UCLAri, you lived in Tokyo, didn't you? I think you know what a really urban city looks.

Ari- OMG the LaRouche opera is AMAZING. They started that this summer.

So. Funny. Oh God.

and eh, the city and the valley don't LOOK different. But they are. It's not so much about it being more or less urban as much as it's just...the Valley. There are good and bad aspects of the Valley...but eh. They're different. I don't necessarily think there's much point in ignoring the cultural differences.

/My mother was THE original valley girl.
///Really. Granada Hills Class of 1979. With Valerie Burtinelli. And Elway.
///I'm so glad we moved when I was 3 1/2.

When I was picturing the "valley", I think didn't they were referring to THAT valley. To me the "valley" = some place like Newport Beach.

Edited

LOL.

But Newport isn't in a valley? It's coastal with no mountains/big hills to be found.

That's funny though. But god. Sooooooooo different. Orange County is what the Valley was like 30 years ago. Except with better weather. And maybe more money. And more republicans. But other than that? EXACTLY the same.

/Another anecdote- Someone once asked my mom where she grew up and she said the Valley and the lady asked her which one. And my mom just looked at her for a few seconds and was like, are there any other valleys that go by THE Valley? The lady was from LA, too.

OC weather > valley weather.

Well, not exactly Newport Beach.
Actually what I meant to say is that in the movie Valley Girl (mind you I remember vaguely, if anything, about the movie) the main character was portrayed as being rich, snobby, conceited, among other traits. Basically the typical "OC" girl. That is how I came to the conclusion that the "valley" was some place in Orange County. Yeah, I know. I'm very narrow-minded.

lol.

we're not all bad.

Are you one of those girls, allie? :P

Hey, why didn't you show up to the CC meet on Tuesday?

Had class until 8. And was there since 9am. I'm dead by the end of a Tuesday.

And no. That's a big, big stereotype perpetuated by the recent infatuation with all things laguna, newport, etc. There are rich, snobby girls allllll over the place. They aren't just concentrated in OC :)

The OC's a lot more diverse than some people think. Step into some neighborhoods in Anaheim, Costa Mesa, and Santa Ana, and the image of the wealthy conservative area disappears quickly.

siiiii.

my brother is going to Santa Ana CC for their fire program and he was like...it's so weird... I've never been the only white person in a class before. he's got loooots of adjusting to do.

15 hours???? is that possible
I cant sleep more than 8 hours

It's not about the hair color. It's about the attitude. ;) Maybe many Asian girls are just as image obssessed, rich, and snobby as the blondes?? How often do you see Asian casts in TV shows anyway? It's like CSI, you don't see Asians in that show even though huge number of them are doing forensic science (or any science). Top law schools have disportionally large number of Asians but I don't see any of them in Law and Order. But when Hollywood did pick them on rare occasions, they are often the unattractive ones that speak broken English like fob when they could have easily pick from many well-spoken and goodlooking ones at places like UCLA/USC. Very strange.

Anyway, I digressed. That type of girls are all over the place. I see plenty in the city also--West Hollywood (although they would likely be gay guys), Brentwood, and Beverly Hills..etc.

Kelly Hu. Lucy Liu. Sandra Oh. That fat guy from Martial Law. I do notice in Law and Order or some legal shows, they have Asians as forensic types...but pretty anonymous. As in one liners.

I guess that's why I don't notice them. I could have missed them when I went to the restroom for one minute.
