Does anyone else find the website REALLY confusing?

I couldn’t even figure out what majors/minors were offered! I almost eliminated Brown because I thought they didn’t offer Chinese according to an outside website. I FINALLY just googled Brown “East Asian Studies” and found it!

Meh… just a thread to rant about how annoying the website is/ have anyone who actually knows how to use the website teach us!

Sorry you had such a rough time. Are you sure you tried hard enough and didn’t rush? In any case…

[Brown University](http://www.brown.edu)

Click on “Undergraduate” link

Click on “The Brown Education” tab

Click on “Departments and Concentrations” link

Click on “Concentrations (majors)” link

BINGO!

And there’s also this page with links to department webpages: [Concentrations at Brown](http://www.brown.edu/Administration/Dean_of_the_College/advising/concentration_list.php)

I myself found Brown THE most confusing of the 8 colleges to which my daughter applied.

LOL. Yeah, the first time the “new website” was introduced was back in 2007 or 2008. I remember talking to my English professor about it.

First of all, Brown doesn’t have “majors” - we have “concentrations.” If you go to the “academic life” portion and click on the departments, you should get an A-Z listing. Now at this point you should just find the department you are looking for and see if they have a concentration. If not, you can click on the letter “C” and scroll down for concentration you should be able to get this site (although it might be outdated) http://www.brown.edu/Administration/Registrar/concentration.html</a>

Hope it helps!

OH that’s why i couldn’t find them! I tried A-Z and looked for MAJORS! Thanks.
@Ambitiousmind07 there is no Brown Education tab
A-Z –> Concentrations, list of worked though :slight_smile: thanks
for future concentration-seekers

You guys might be technologically challenged, which is okay, really. loool I was just kidding.

At first, I found the site to be somewhat difficult to navigate through, but I then managed to get the hold of it. After all, practice makes perfect. lol.

I find most colleges have crappy admissions websites. Has anyone here applied to Penn, for example? I mean come on.

I don’t think so…

You just have to become acquainted with the site.

@Rainbowrose

[Brown University Admission](<a href=“Undergraduate Admission | Brown University”>Undergraduate Admission | Brown University)

Second tab from the left.

I think Brown is updating the website’s front page.

That’s what I hear as well, Jason.

As for the difficulty, whereas I find it pretty easy to get around, the trick on any college webpage is use the search function.

oh, I was looking at Academics

I, too, find Brown’s website confusing.

At least most of the websites have the general idea of
Academics -> Undergraduate (or College of ___ , etc…) -> Departments and Programs -> Majors/Minors
but Brown is different :(

@Rockermcr: MIT’s site is BEAST! I’m not an MIT applicant, but wow!

According to a recent Daily Herald (Brown’s newspaper) article, Brown is revising the website soon.

It it definitely the least intuitive college site I’ve used so far.

I agree, Brown’s site sucks. So does UPenn’s.
