^ hahahahaha ClearPenthouse, I'm so glad that capitalism in America has produced jobs in which we can hide away people like you. Good to know you can go mow some lawns or flip some burgers without bothering the rest of us.

Also, I can't quite recall the last time I used "olfactory" in conversation, but I use "nuance" all the time (probably at least once a day). If you don't think of it as a common word, you're a fool. Try "amalgamation" or "corpuscle" on for size (both words I used in class discussions this past week) ;)

Also, Indians are a subset of Asians, genius. They're the same thing.
They're not born smarter. I know plenty of Asians who are just as stupid, ignorant, and naive as you. The ones who ARE smart are products of good education. The reason Asians are so good at mathematics is that Asian schools place heavier emphasis on mathematics than American schools. Get real.

I don't give a **** what you say, Asians are orientals are Japanese and Chinese. When I say "I love Asian food" that doesn't mean "I love Russian potatoes" because that's obviously what I'm not talking about. Of course a dick like you jump all over that, because I certainly didn't know India was part of Asia.

Also I like how you completely disregard genetic trends just to prove your point. "Asians don't just happen to be smarter because they're born that way, Asian schools just make them work real hard," yeah all of the Asian schools in America really discipline the Chinese and Japanese well.

"I certainly didn't know India was a part of Asia."

Ah.

That pretty much explains this situation, then. I typically avoid talking to people who don't even have a remote knowledge of geography or history at all. It gives me a headache.

Everyone, go watch the movie 'Idiocracy.'"

Your sarcasm detector reeks of ****.

Also I saw that movie, you're probably just like the nerd in the beginning without the wife. You're never getting laid.

Hey ClearPenthouse, I'm Indian and I don't try that hard in school so don't believe that all Asians and Indians (I don't consider myself Asian btw) are just born smart. My parents are really the ones that egg me on because they are immigrants and to be honest it gets kinda annoying sometimes. Though on the other hand I'm sure this will help me in the long run so its not bad. Just gonna let you know that you are coming on as quite of a tool, but I'm sure your probably a nice enough guy; its just I'm not sure criticizing people like this won't lead anyone anywhere. Peace bro

to answer the OP's post, my American friends find it ironic that I, who grew up in a different country, am actually better at English than them... I didn't really realize it until someone pointed it out... but I really do think it depends on the person and what environment they grow up in. I basically learned all my English from reading and listening to the BBC...so I don't really use slang! I got a 800 CR, but a 730 on Math...so basically not every Asian is fantastic at Math :P

to clear up any misconceptions about asians (who according to clearpenthouse, are limited to orientals), i will provide u with a real life example.

There are about 6 oriental students in my grade. I came to america 8 years ago, One came 4 years ago, One came 2 years ago, three were born here. Two of the natives crash and burn in terms of academics. Ranked like god knows what in the school. The two other immigrants who came later than me does decently well in school. Math is their forte. Now I am ranked highest academically. I assimilated. I lost my accent like 4 years ago, my math fell down to the US level.

What does this show? even though the two natives are Asians, they still fail at life. I harbor no pity for them. The other two immigrants try really hard, but language and cultural barriers only allow them to go so far. The last native and me do well in school b/c we want to. We have a goal in life. The difference between us is due to my previous education in china and also b/c of my strict family. Did I inherit the genes to quick mastery of languages and natural tendency to excel at math tests without studying? Absolutely not, Asians seem smart b/c the Asians you have seen are mostly smart. Go visit a country in Asia. U will be surprised by the number of retards and incompetents

i dont find it sad..cuz lets face it...they're smarter then us..seriously. in math english science..any subject out there..schooling is better in foregin countries..

But higher education is best in America. Why? Because of the competitive nature. Universities compete to get the best students just like students compete to get into the best schools. If there was more competition amongst American high schools, we'd have better schooling.

As an immigrant myself I know part of the reason why foreign test taker who've learned English as their 2nd/3rd language can achieve a better score in CR/WR in SAT and English portion in ACT.
This is because we learn the language by internalizing its many idiosyncrasies (ie: grammar rules etc.) unlike natural speakers who rely on their day-to-day English. While the natural speakers rely on their ear, we rely on our knowledge of the rules. As our stay in the country lengthens, our "ear" for the language also deepens, but we still remember and practice the rules of the language. Thus, come test time, we use both our knowledge of the rules and our "ear" to judge which choice is the most valid.

My two cents on this topic is that it's really an illogical comparison. you can't compare the top top international kids with some slightly above average typical american kids. there's gotta be lots and lots of ridiculously smart american kids who do well on SAT reading and writing. and it's really not asian magic either; there's a lot of work that goes into getting high scores on a section entirely based around a second language. im korean and working on SAT reading is quite a bit of a pain, and i'm pretty sure that i would never EVER score higher than a 730 which is what i got the first time i took it. i don't know, i just think the comparison isn't really right, although if there were very few (lets say like only 100 in the nation) americans that got high scores in the english sections then it definitely would be very sad.
one thing i do admit though, is that the really smart kids in my school who get 2400s on their SATs are only technically american (asians, jews, etc.)

Are you *** serious?

Do you know absolutely nothing about American history? Becuase only about 2-3% of the Ameican population is "really" American.
