Someone had to do it. Seriously, guys, instead of crashing in on the teetotalers, feel free to join this (ironically unpopular - so far) thread. I have no problem with anyone choosing not to drink/party, but I personally can't get enough of it, so make mine a Cuba Libre.

ps - for the admins - drink responsibly, don't be a prat. Or if you must be, make sure you won't remember it.

Respect on the straightedge thing - I went teetotal for six months, and then my doctor told me that’s a sign of alcoholism, so I gave up. I always find parties desparately boring when sober, but maybe that’s just me :D

Last Friday, I went to Joanne Fabrics and bought yarn to knit with, but I was feeling a little wild and bought the lime green colored yarn. Then, I went home knitted cozies for all of my kitchen appliances while humming Davy Jones songs at a low, comfortable pitch.

Well, I’m British, and so probably not the best source on college culture. Here, however, it doesn’t carry that connotation (for instance, this thread wasn’t intended to make that suggestion). I can imagine, though, that there’d be a correlation between those who “like to party” and those who smoke pot - a bit like how, on any “roommate selection” form, I’d say that I play loud music: even though I don’t, I’d rather be around people who wouldn’t mind it. I’m very interested to hear what other people say, though - maybe it’s different in the US.

Haha so pretty much I am of the opinion that the “other” thread should just go away forever. There are about a zillion different definitions of partying…partying doesn’t have to mean wild sex, drunken exploits, doing everything you will regret later, and getting the worst hangovers ever. Although I like a few of those things too. To me, partying means going out, being social, liking to dance or playing games with a large group, trying new things etc. So do I like partying? Heck yeah!

I’m guessing most of the partiers out there in existence are not posting on CC, a website that showcases anti-social tendencies of people among other things.

Yeah, I do. I’m not really into huge frat parties or anything, but I do enjoy clubs/smaller, lowkey type of things. I usually don’t get trashed, just a bit buzzed (girly drink of choice= Smirnoff, green apple haha). But anyway, yes, I do enjoy parties. And partying doesn’t equate to drinking. You can just be hanging out with friends, doing something you enjoy.

In my experience, pot doesn’t really correlate with “partying”. I mean, people might be doing it at a party, but it’s not the main objective. But at all of the larger, wilder parties I’ve gone too, there have been a few kids doing anything from pot to snorting coke. I tend to stay away from these types of parties though.

Partying is usually a group of people somewhere, in a house, a small room/apartment, or a club, who are talking, drinking, playing beer pong or w/e alcoholic game of choice, listening to music, dancing, etc. But there are honestly a thousand ways to “party”, so there’s no real definition. But these are a few of the types I’ve been to.

Yep, if one thinks they’re so “cool” and they look down on others here for beings nerds, they are not as cool as they think they are for just being here.
