Does anyone else watch the Latke-Hamantash debates?

There are a few videos on YouTube: [url=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fjbyI7X4dEg]YouTube - 61st University of Chicago Hillel Latke-Hamantash Debate 2007 (Matthew Stolper Part 1)/url.

I was kinda surprised at how many views the videos got...I thought more people would've watched them xD.

i was surprised by the views too. i found it was really funny.

I suppose it’s due to lack of publicity rather than lack of humor.

Or perhaps it’s the kind of intelligent humor that only UChicago applicants understand.

I think it sometimes takes a while to get it, but they would make amazing comedians (Elizabeth Davenport, for instance, is my favourite so far xD).

I don’t think it’s ‘intelligent humor’ though; they just require a little general knowledge.

I attended and enjoyed this year’s L-H debate. After thirty minutes of mediocre comedy and acapella, I would have been pleased by just about anything. Honestly though, its really fun to watch non-Jewish professors pretend to care about Jewish pastries.

After the debate, I tried Latkes and Hamentash for the first time. Very diappointing. Latkes are hash browns; Hamentash are sugar cookies with jelly.
