Does anyone elses optimistic nature torment them?

"Actually, other people's optimism is what's torturing me. I have a healthy, realistic view of the situation (rejected by Brown and Tufts, but probably not at BU), but everyone keeps saying I'll get into Tufts, and my mom keeps saying "what if you do get into Brown?"

I really should just tell everyone to bug off for a while."

exactly the same for me but different schools, just replace Brown with Stanford, Tufts with Harvey Mudd, and BU with Carnegie Mellon

If you're a true optimist, your nature won't torment you...

I'm extremely cynical and pessimistic usually, and yet I have the same problem as you right now.

Maybe it's just the human brain or something. Or the fact that everyone I know has a very unrealistic point of view on me getting accepted...

Either way, it's terrible for sure.

haha you are my twin i have been spending litterally HOURS of my spring at home and on this site. kinda pathetic but whatever. JUST PRAY

I have that problem.

I'm really a pretty rational person. So far my predictions about where I'll be rejected have been accurate.

But, I always feel slightly hopeful about those schools, nonetheless. It'd be a lot less painful if I could just give up on them entirely.

I have been pretty much able to predict where i would be accepted and rejected but my prediction about UCLA was incorrect..i thought they would accept me but instead came a rejection..but this year's admission process has been a bit "out of ordinary"
