I was wondering if you can tell me your experience at Moonifieds. Thanks!
Yes, students get acceptances at Moonifieds. I think that on the order of 60% of the schools attending make offers of acceptance with the rest doing live prescreens.
Great! Thanks @EmsDad
My D got two offers from Moonifieds, and also passed 3 live prescreens to go on to the next on-campus level auditions. Overall we were both very pleased with the whole event, that included scheduled vocal warm ups, master classes given by the schools attending, and parent information sessions.
Thanks! @momma2four
Not only did students get acceptances, but several acceptances came before Christmas which made for a very stress-free audition season. Some even came with scholarship offers.
Nice @Dusing2 can you tell me some of the schools that were there. Thanks!
These are the schools that were at Moonifieds last year (I think if varies slightly from year to year):
CAP 21
Coastal Carolina
Montclair St
Ohio Northern
Otterbein
Pace Musical Theatre
Pace Acting
Penn State
Rider
Point Park
TCU
Texas State Acting
Texas State Musical Theatre
University Of The Arts
University of Oklahoma
University of Texas, Arlington
Viterbo
Wright State
University of Central Oklahoma
My D had 2 MT acceptances and 1 acting acceptance from Moonifieds schools before Christmas, passed 3 live prescreens, and had another acceptance and waitlist before all was said and done. So yes, people do get acceptances from Moonifieds. I wish Unifieds was run like Moonifieds was…so nice to have the scheduling done for you & they even helped when one school was ahead/behind by using Periscope to keep all of the auditioners advised throughout the day(s).
Thanks so much! @WTXMom that is the information I was looking for.
Year before last OCU, Baldwin Wallace and Hartt were also there and all three of them sent acceptances before Christmas. Wright State, Viterbo and U of Arts also did early acceptances. Rider came in January.
Not to mention that there is a Hopdoddy Burger Bar one block from the Moonifieds hotel. Totally worth it.
The other great thing about Moonifieds is there is one big dance call and all of the schools observe. If you are extremely good at tap, you do a second tap dance call.
It’s all very organized. You get a list of schools and then just pick the ones you wish to audition for. They set up all the times and send you the schedule. She also sends info on requirements for each school (whether you need to apply to university first, audition fee, contact person, and audition requirements – song cuts, monologue, etc.). I printed the sheet for each school and put in a binder then wrote my own notes on it. Very simple.
YES, @EmsDad, we hit Hopdoddy twice that weekend, then again in Austin ahead of the TX State audition. We’re hooked!!!
Wow! Sounds like I need to try that place!
What is the pay to play? What sort of Moo package do you have to be using to “qualify” for Moonifieds?
I would like to know the answer to that as well.
Can anyone go to Moonifieds?
It’s for students of Mary Anna and Dave Clemmons. If you look at the “store” on Moo’s website there are prices for all of her services. She has changed things in the last several years, and some of the videos that we purchased are now available for anyone to watch on YouTube. We spent less than $1000 on her services, and that included purchasing videos. That does not include what we spent attending the masterclasses, and those were invaluable. That was some of the best money we spent, and anyone can attend those. MTCA, ArtsBridge, and others also have the same type of masterclasses, so I would attend any of those that fit your time, location and budget.
I don’t see anything in the store about Moonifieds. And my question is- are there services that must be purchased to qualify? Is there a threshold that makes you an “official student of Moo”? (as opposed to reading her book) Subscribing to the online prep? ($499 acting, $699 MT) attending a master class? (average price $400ish) a certain number of Skype consult sessions? ($175 each) Is there a fee to attend Moonifieds themselves? (other than application/prescreen/audition fees) Moonifieds does seem like a super convenient way to get a LOT of prescreen/audition stuff done- and get some early feedback. But what do you have to do to get that opportunity?
Moonifieds was free, if I remember correctly. Might have been $100 or so registration fee, but I really don’t even recall that much. There is no minimum number of times to consult with her. Some did online prep and a couple consultations. Some just do a few consultations. Some do the whole works with lots of consultations. She also scholarshipped several kids so they got everything free.
With Moonifieds and a few on campus auditions, it really wouldn’t be necessary to do unifieds. Or, you could just do Moonifieds and Unifieds, and be done.
