Does anyone get into med school as a pre-med buisness major?

I'm currently a double finance and economics major, at a mid level university. I've done 3 of the major pre med classes i only have 5 more left to go, recently i decided to change my mind and focus on pre-med and try to apply to med school. Assuming my science GPA is a 3.6 and buisness GPA is 3.85, overall my gpa should be around 3.75. If i can get 27 plus on my MCAT do i have a good chance of getting admitted into med school. Before i changed my mind i was geared towards business only, so i have done quite a few banking internships but nothing health care related. Anyways thanks for your help!

27 would be below-average for admittance and your lack of pre-health EC's will hurt you.

The major will not.

In any case, it's dramatically too early to be making projections in such a manner. You're 38% of the way through your premed requirements and have no way of knowing what your MCAT score would be.

thanks, yeh I guess your right that it is to early to tell, i just wanted to know what i would have to shoot for inorder to get into a med school. So, what would be a good mcat score, as in the one you would need to atleast be considered, i have a friend who got a 27 and was able to get admitted to a med school, thats why i put that score down. So, i guess your saying I need to focus more on my extra curriculars as in work at a hospital or do research?

27 is below average, but some kids are going to get admitted with such numbers. Esp. when race is on their side (~9 MCAT points, all else being equal).

Generally speaking most kids aim for a 30, and I think that's reasonable.

I've had several physicians tell me that a business degree is extremely helpful on down the line. It's not a plus or minus for admissions (no major is) and it's not going to help in medical school much (what do you know, my sociology degree was a huge help on my epidemiology and biostatistics exam today) , but if you get through those parts, it could be extremely important.

30 is a great standard goal, but depending on a number of different factors, a 27 is at least "competitive" at a number of places (home state school depending on where you are from). Certainly nothing close to a guarantee, but wouldn't take you out of the running for a spot.

Yes, but the other factors -- EC's, dominantly -- are not particularly in his favor at the moment. So the MCAT score becomes more important.
