does anyone have any recomendations for those applying throught questbridge?

i'm going to apply through questbridge, but my school isn't very familiar with the program. does anyone have any suggestions? thanks in advance :)

Yeah, absolutely! I was a QuestBridge Finalist last year, and I’m going to USC with excellent financial aid even though I wasn’t matched.

Work on your essays early! (but you probably already knew that)

The people who are on staff at QB are great, and they respond to questions quickly. They’re not “out to get you” like some college admissions offices seem to be.

As far as your school goes, mine wasn’t prepared for QB either. It really isn’t a huge deal, as long as you can check up on them and make sure they’re crossing the t’s and dotting the i’s. In my experience, it is really important for your school to have a strong school profile that describes the courses, the organization of the school, historical data on students and teachers, etc. Look at the profile for your school if you can, and if it doesn’t seem strong, then make waves (but be nice!) and get it updated.

The profile isn’t as important for QuestBridge itself as it is for the colleges that you’ll apply to once you’re a finalist. QuestBridge just wants to see a smart student who has overcome challenges, whether those be family, socioeconomic, health, etc. etc.

One final piece of advice: go to [QuestBridge Applicants 2011](http://questapplicants2011.info/) and sign up there. There are a BUNCH of other successful QuestBridge Finalists there, and they help answer your questions and will even help proof-read your essays!

(before you log in, you have to join a Facebook group too. the link is [Log In | Facebook](2011-2012 QuestBridge Applicants | Facebook))

I’ll answer if you have any more questions!

thanks so much! that’s really helpful!
