Does anyone have/is there a list of all the schools that offer National Merit scholarships?

I know places like USC, Bama, Arizona offer 1/2 or full tuition for NMSF. What are some other schools? I’m not looking for any that offer large amounts even, just anything in general. Like for example I know Grinnell has one that’s 2k/year or something? Thanks!

Quite a few colleges have one that is around $2K. But beware – often they don’t stack with need based aid.

@intparent Do you know where I can find a list of those? Thank you for letting me know about the need-based aid. For now I’m just trying to see all my options.

@mommdc Thank you! I was also wondering if there’s someone where I can see the smaller scholarships, like the 2K ones intparent mentioned.

No, I don’t know of a list. Most of them are schools that cost over $60K per year. So the NMF award is a drop in the bucket, really. Maybe that is why no one maintains that list. Carleton used to give $2K per year – they don’t knock it down to $1K per year if you don’t get need based did – a lot of schools do.

@intparent That does make sense. I really appreciate the response.

Yes, Carleton still does grant the full $2,000 for NMF.

Also, Carleton annually has available five $10,000 Fritch Scholarships (good for all four years) for five incoming “middle class” students who simply hail from smaller communities of less than 200,000 in population. Most freshman receiving them appear to come from communities with populations of 20,000 or less. Our freshman daughter was a lucky recipient.

These annual scholarships, in reality, provide Fritch Scholars with $5,500 in out-of-pocket help, as $4,500 each year goes back to the college, reimbursing Carleton $4,500 of the need-based grants it otherwise gives to these students. Of the remaining $5,500, $4,500 can be used either to eliminate the expected $4,500 in federal student loans or reduce the expected family contribution. The other $1,000 is received as a credit toward textbooks and miscellaneous student expenses.

The one-page online application can be found on the Admissions page of the college website, clicking the ‘Afford’ box to get to the Fritch application link.

This lists every school that offers a scholarship but not the amount - http://www.nationalmerit.org/s/1758/images/gid2/editor_documents/annual_report.pdf.
