well i got 1890... M 680 R 590 and W 620... so ur not too bad either...still im applying sooo wish me luck!

Good luck. Wish me luck too with my 1850 that will surely kill me. DX

I have 580 on Reading, 650 on Math, and 630 on Writing (12 Essay). So I have an 1860 total. I applied Early Decision, and although my scores will be weak, my essay and teacher recommendations were excellent! Good luck to everyone applying.

Tell us if you get in or not. ^_^ I got a 630 on the writing also, but my essay was an 8.

My friend has a 2100 superscored, but below 2000 on each individual test. So it's not LOW low, but it's low-ish. He applied ED.

Yeah, I'll be sure to post if I get accepted or not. It's interesting because I did worse on the multiple choice in writing but my essay soared from an 8 to a 12 (I took it twice and am going to take it this December, with tons of preparation).

do you guys know anyone who had low act/sat I score but got in to Columbia?

I wouldn't know. =/

the average sat score for people who enrolled at columbia was between like a 1350 and 1550 i think, or somewhere around there. Im sure people who post their sat scores on these forums will boost their scores by a few points so they dont look bad. dont believe everything you read on here, im sure people exaggerate their activities as well too.

Actually, I don't think that's true at all.

vyeung, why do we need to boost our test scores on this site? To impress who? Impress you? That won't gain us admissions.. Come on.. Don't say what you like.

I second vyeung's statement...it's a natural tendency so that others see you as a greater candidate and you feel more confident about applying

Not necessarily. The students on this board want honest opinions on their chances at specific schools, "boosting" their scores will only hurt them, the few points could give your application a big shove in the opposite direction. This is a public board where nobody knows each other. Maybe some do lie about their scores. Most of the students are indeed trying to see their options and are attempting to receive a comprehensive understanding as to where their application stands amongst other applications. Lying about scores would be a complete waste of time.

Feel comfortable applying based on phony bologna test scores? I beg to differ. Give the benefit of the doubt to these students. Students applying to prestigious schools such as Columbia are as close to the top as you can get. Confidence won't help if your scores are illegitimate. As I said, the deciding factor may indeed be the inflated test scores, don't you think that would cause more grief than boost confidence?

Lying about your scores isn't going to give you a good look to where you stand. That'd just be silly.
