Does anyone know about Resident Advisor Compensation?

I am an entering freshmen and I am thinking about becoming an RA Junior and Senior year to help defray costs, which we could put toward summer study etc. I could not find it anywhere on their website about how RA’s are compensated, some schools give you a room plus a little bit of cash, some give you a room and some meals, etc. If anyone knows the answer I would appreciate it. Thanks.

I have alerted the local authorities of your question.

I guess i'm the only one who doesn't get it ????

Hah. Naw, it wasn't a joke. I forwarded your question to a quasi-lurker. I've discussed this with the person before, so I know that s/he knows the answer.

Thanks, for a sarcastic person I take comments wayyy too seriously

You do realize that sarcasm can get you banned from the forums, no?

geoffbloom, the "local authorities" he was referring to is me. Shakes head at Nom.

I want to become an RA junior year. Even though you have to be "on call" on some nights (where you have to stay in all night), bust people for alcohol (but I'd be a chill RA haha), give out noise violations, etc., you get FREE room and board (as in, the room and the dining plan). Since RA's get singles, that's a total savings of around $12K.

But be sure to keep your GPA up. There's a lot of competition to be an RA, from what I've heard, and they look for responsibility.

So it's complete room and board???, like the 14+ dining plan and an 8,200 dollar single?? sounds great!

Yup... haha but that's why there's a lot of competition. Best of luck when the time comes.
