Does anyone know any good premed schools?

schols that offer public health/psychology programs.
i havent gone anywhere reasonable with my search and im running out of time.
it will be a bonus if there is financial aid for international students
im in 12th grade
also not to expensive

There is no such thing as “premed schools”.

virtually all good colleges are fine for premed students.

What are your stats?

Are you aware that few int’l students get accepted to med schools here? US med schools are for future American doctors. That is why they rarely accept int’l students. The ones that do get accepted have hooks.

How much will your family pay each year? Most schools do not give FA to int’ls.

From another thread.

Schools do not “offer premed”. Premed is not a major. You don’t apply for premed.

A premed student is any major…ANY MAJOR…music, bio, English, History…any major.
My son was a Chemical Engineering major. you can be an art history major and be premed.

We need more info from you.

The OP expressed preference for public health/psychology; to this end I’d say Tulane is a good place to start…

^^
Tulane offers FA to int’ls up to $20k per year. the total cost is around $60k. Will the OP’s family pay the other $40k per year?

Tulane rarely accepts int’ls to its med schools.

Im fully aware about the difficulties international students face with getting into med schools in the US but its possible. i am in the top 10%
G.P.A of 4.8/5.0
im yet to do my sats
tulane is off my list, i already check it.
i have schools like
mercer university
umass ahmerst
university of southern florida
purdue university
university of northcarolina chapel hill
saint louis university?

Im seeking a future in medicine, and im really hoping to be in th >3% of international students that get into med school, but ive seen it happen and i believe .

so what are youre thoughts about the schools?

im also aware that they are mostly big schools, i think i can cope

OP you should research going to med school in USA as an international before you start this “premed” track. You can read a lot of threads here at CC in the pre-med board.

First and most of all, you need around $200k cash in the bank before considering apply to ANY US med schools, regardless if you are 10% or 1% of the class.

Do your research.

schools for internationals to look to for money:

http://www.educationusa.info/financial-aid.php</a></p>

http://www.desperateguide.com/us/top-25-financial-aid-colleges-in-us-for-international-students-need-aware</a></p>

http://www.usnews.com/education/best-colleges/the-short-list-college/articles/2013/09/19/colleges-that-give-international-students-the-most-financial-aid</a></p>

How did you come up with that list?

Some/many of those schools don’t give int’ls any money. Are you picking those because some of them have med schools?

Are you saying that about 3% of int’l applicants to med school get accepted? Do you realize that most med schools won’t EVER accept any int’l med students? Most med schools are public, and they don’t accept int’ls because they are state funded.

Are you Canadian? If not, then that is a further obstacle. Many/most of the int’ls that are accepted are Canadians.

okay okay. im feeling a bit discouraged. no i am not canadian.
some of this schools give merit scholarships, and im banking on that.

i am working on a citizenship visa, so i feel like i have an added advantage?

what’s a citizenship visa? Do you mean to say you’re in the US and could become a permanent resident?
(Are you sure you’re not being scammed?)

Assuming you can pass the UG phase AND are successful got admittance to an USA med school. As international, you need around $200K cash in the bank to attend a med school, do you know that? There is not even a loan to international students for US med schools.

i mean like becoming a permanent resident.

and, can how is med school in canada/ can i transfer there for med school

If you become a permanent resident then you will be treated like permanent residents. No difference.

Would recommend checking out the University of South Alabama. It is low tuition, low cost of living and while no school has pre-med, they do have a health professionals suggested curricula,(<a href=“Pre-Health | Academic Advising & Transfer Services”>Pre-Health | Academic Advising & Transfer Services) as well as a medical school and relationships with research facilities, hospitals and labs all over the state as well as in Mobile. Bonus? Beach nearby!

It is not easy to become a PR as an undergrad. Do you have a US citizen that can be your financial support sponsor?
