i was about to send in my eop new paltz commitment letter when i saw on their website that we have to take summer classes (aka summer school?!) also you are REQUIRED to have some kind of peer counseling, study groups and participate in some other stuff? if anyone knows anything about this will you please tell me?

am i going to be forced to live with other eop applicants? do i have to take classes with other eop applicants?

Absolutely not. I go to Binghamton but the program is the same statewide. You take whatever classes you want, although certain classes may have special EOP sections. There are also some EOP only classes but I don’t think you HAVE to take them. And at Bing at least the EOP students are mixed in with everyone else. One lives down the hall from me and was in my writing class which is why I know about the program.

i hope you’ll keep an open mind about the extended summer orientation because i think it is really worth it. I know that you do have to attend and there are special advisors and study groups like you said. But you do not have to live with just eop kids and really its only freshman yr that you are really involved with it…they try to get you off to a good start and i have heard its excellent.
