Does anyone know how good Toshiba laptops are?

title 10 char

From what I’ve heard, they’re pretty good. One of my relatives bought one last fall and to my knowledge, it has served them well.

I personally like the looks of many of them and I haven’t heard anything bad about them.

The only negative I hear attributed to Toshiba laptops is their low battery life (2-4 hrs at the worst). But since I rarely need to use my laptop for that long when relying only on battery, I swear by the Toshiba brand.

Typed on a Toshiba.

The battery life of my Toshiba is much longer than on my Dell. I’ve had lots of problems with the battery on the Dell Inspiron 15 (purchased three years ago). After two years, it wouldn’t hold a charge so it had to be plugged in all the time. I purchased a new battery for the dell and after I charge the battery and unplug the power cord a warning message comes on that I have 2 hours and 59 minutes of battery life left I have to plug in the power cord. Then the computer shuts down (as if the battery lost power) and I have to turn it on again and then it works well! The Toshiba’s battery lasts at least 4 hours.

They’re pretty good laptops. My only issues are the short battery lives (as kryptonsa pointed out, they’re usually only 2-4 hours; I’m used to ten hours) and a thick, heavy body.

If you’re looking for a cheap desktop replacement with the occasional mobile outing, it’ll suit your needs.

Yeah, it seems the only strife with Toshiba is how short the battery life is. I’ve owned my Toshiba for almost a year now and it has served me well.

I used Hp, Dell and [Toshiba laptops](http://www.dealaboo.com/usa/search-result/toshiba/products) and i found best as a quality and long battery life is Toshiba laptops.

Random thread revive? My Mother and wife both had the same 15" Toshiba Satellite models a few years ago. My wife used hers all throughout college and it got a little slow in the 4th year so I replaced it with a 13" Dell. She likes the Dell more, but I think that’s mainly because it’s more portable and ‘newer’. She junked the Toshiba, but it really was a reliable 'top for 3+ heavy use years (was her only computer). My Mother is STILL using hers and I think it’s been 6 years now. Of course I tell her it’s slow and she’s had to do some work on it (HD failure and other problems), but nothing that couldn’t be fixed with a little tech help and a dollar or two.

As for me - My first laptop was/is (I still have it) a beast. I bought a 17" Toshiba Satellite X-205 in late 2007 with dual 250GB HD, 4GB RAM, Nvidia GForce graphics card (meant to be used for games), the whole nine at the time. Still going extremely strong almost 5 years later. No signs of puttering out anytime soon (knock on wood). Of course I paid a pretty penny for it at the time so I’ve babied it and took really good care of it to last the ages. However, I’ll be getting a Mac for school, but that’s because of Windows, not Toshiba.

So overall, I think they are a great compay for the price of their models and if taken care of, even moderately, should last at least through college. I would gather longer since technology has come a long way just in these past several years and parts are just lasting longer.
