Any infos would be appreciated :)

anyone???

What experience do you have?

Hotel school is more about fit. By that I mean you need to demonstrate you have a real interest in the hospitality business. It is important to have relevant work experience. I think it has become a lot more competitive. You need to have good grades, but if you didn’t take the most rigorous work load, it may not be as important.

I don’t have any experience in hotel industry…is that gonna be a big disadvantage?
I’m a senior right now so I think it’s too late to looking for a job at hotel…
hmph
Anyone who goes to Cornell U- school of hotel administration?

Yes, it would be a big disadvantage. Hospitality industry doesn’t have to be limited to hotel. Why are you considering Hotel School? My daughter had a lot of friends in hotel school, and my nephew is a freshman right now (I suggested it to him).

okay.
then what should I do to increase my chances of getting in?
Oldfort, so your son goes to Cornell- school of hotel administration?

Hotel is funny cauz - you need to demonstrate interest in the hospitality industry to get in. But once you get in, everyone shows their true self and aims for investment banking, instead of the actual hospitality industry.

Just from my observations about Hotelies.

^^^You are correct. My older daughter’s best hotelIe friend is working at Goldman. My nephew is more interested in the commercial property development, but could be for hospitality.

My nephew interned at a hotel junior summer, and continued to work there senior year. I believe interview is necessary. I would suggest to get a job at a restaurant, hotel, even at a gym to gain some experience.

lol I know a hotelie working at the Abercrombie headquarters. They like to tailor the fit to marketing, customer svc, hr, finance, and things like that. Hope that helps!
