I've gotten scores of 630 and 640 on this section, which is significantly less than my math and writing scores (770 and 740, respectively). What advice or tips do you have for me?? How should i approach the reading passages? And what's the most efficient way to prepare for the vocabulary?? Thanks for the help!

I’m in the exact same position, and would like to know as well… but for vocab I’m just reading Direct Hits. On the 2nd Volume haha

I’m in the same boat too. I have the same scores as you do and I also need to improve my critical reading score.

This link should help: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/sat-preparation/750399-how-attack-sat-critical-reading-section-effectively.html

It gives you strategies that were apparently crucial for the author of the thread to get an 800 on the section. To answer your vocab question, it says that the only way to learn the vocab (and master the sentence completion) is to just buckle down and study it, using flashcards or any other method. Hope this helps!

The method is awesome, but I wish I can improve on those inference questions…

I’m in the same situation. I’m scoring around 670 in cr, but mid 700s in math and writing. I have improved by about 30 points though by reading direct hits (only halfway through the first book). As for passage readings, I can’t offer much advice because those bring my score down the most. good luck.
