Out of all the students who are accepted into Wharton (neither of the dual accelerated program), how many students get in ED??

How many spots are available??

500 total. about 250 ED. don’t expect them to take much more than 100 unhooked in the ED round.

Is MS a hook for Penn in this round? The university always seems to be scrambling to snag a candidate from MS…I think they got 2 this year? They had 1 kid in 2012–and he got into Wharton ED.

^ Interesting–MS is the only state with only 1 member of the Class of 2012.

Hooks are legacies, URMs and athletes. Geography won’t help unless it’s truly exotic say valedictorian from Tierra del Fuego High. I honestly doubt Wharton “scrambles” for anything.

choklitrain, are there really that many competitive Hooks applying ED to Wharton? What do you base your numbers on?

Not disputing it, just wondering (as a non-hook wondering about applying ED).

That’s naive. Look at the map; it speaks for itself.

And I have a hard time believing that 60% of the Wharton ED admits are hooked. I’m not saying you’re wrong; I’d just like to see some evidence.

well hmom worked admissions and says 40% of the total class is hooked. you have to expect a disproportionate amount of the hooked to apply ED. after all, they’re hooked at Penn. and then you need to factor in that wharton is 20% of the student body, but penn’s single biggest draw. so if you’ve got solid stats and you’re the #1 tennis player in the country, penn is going to try to win you from HYP by saying “we can get you in to wharton early.” that’s why wharton has so many athletes(proportionally, the most of the four schools).

You won’t see any. Penn’s not going to release info that will so clearly discourage people from applying. They want apps.

What does it mean to be hookeD? one person said that 40% of wharton applicants are hooked
