Does anyone know how to translate the ACT scores

DOes anyone know how to trnslate a certain % of questions right into a croe for that section. For example, what would 85% of the questions right on the math section translate into as far as a 1-36? Thanks.

I am not sure if one can accurately translate since the two tests measure different sorts of aptitudes. But as a rule of thumb, each point from the ACT composite is equal to 40 points from the SAT. So a 33 on the ACT would be equivalent to a 1480 on the SAT. A 30 on the ACT would probably be equal to about a 1360 on the SAT. A 26 on the ACT would probably be equal to a 1200 on the SAT etc...

The conversion from raw scores to scaled scores will vary a bit with each test, depending on how people do. The scaled scores are linked to particular percentiles.

For one example, see page 63 here: <a href="http://www.actstudent.org/pdf/preparing.pdf%5B/url%5D">http://www.actstudent.org/pdf/preparing.pdf</a></p>

85% right on this particular math test, for instance, would garner a 29.
