Does anyone know if it is safe to drop down to 11 credit hours with Pell grant?

I am at full Pell grant and have full Pell award. My uncle made me sign up for a 1 credit Pilates course that I do not want or need. I am wondering if anyone knows if it is safe to drop down from 12 hours full time to 11 hours part time and not get a penalty with fasfa for it? I have done it twice before and I was safe but I am still a bit wary each time I do it so I ask an adviser.

In general, if you received a Federal Pell Grant and drop below 12 credits, your grant will be adjusted.

If you reduce from full time to 3/4 time (going from 12 to 11 credits), your financial aid package will be adjusted accordingly.

In terms of real $$ and cents, if you are currently receiving full pell of $2775, once you drop to 11 credits, your Pell will drop to 2081.25. Any other aid you receive will also drop down to 3/4 status.

More importantly, your dropping credits could affect your overall satisfactory academic progress, which could risk your losing your financial aid all together.
