Does anyone know of a couple of websites that can help me find high school internships?

Hi,

I’m looking for summer internships in engineering for high school students. If you know of any websites I could benefit from, please comment below.

Thanks!

@equationlover This info is just for summer programs in engineering/computer science.

Here is a free program at Rennselauer http://doso.rpi.edu/update.do?artcenterkey=655 Program is called Preface

Smith College has a good one and they give out financial aid.

University of Madison at Wisconsin https://www.engr.wisc.edu/academics/student-services/diversity-programs/engineering-summer-program/
This program is free but you have to pay for your transportation.

Also this list is good for all kinds of summer programs. Pay attention to the STEM listings and be sure to apply for the Joy Ivy scholarship listed. It is for girls in certain states and will help pay for them to attend a summer program that costs. http://www.thecollegiateblog.org/80-free-summer-programs-for-high-school-students/ Here is the Joyce Ivy link:http://www.joyceivyfoundation.org/summer-scholars.html

Carnegie Mellon has a program called SAMS which is free. Note that women are also considered part of the underserved population in STEM so many programs will be for Latinos, AA, Native American and Women. Also check with the program if you are unsure whether you qualify. Many times low-income students falls into the same category as underserved. Like I said in my other post- there are programs out there that would be affordable for you based on no cost or scholarships. You just have to find them. I know there is one for girls in Michigan- I just can’t find the link.

Also based on your income level look into Questbridge for the junior program and Jack Kent Cooke for scholarships.

Good luck and sorry for the typos- I don’t have a lot of time right now.

Also look up programs offered by SWE- The Society of Engineers- Here is one at Michigan and they say they offer scholarships. http://www.swe.engin.umich.edu/seecamp MY DD did a lot of SWE programs and it lead to some great scholarships from SWE for college. Also check your universiities in Ohio- there may be free summer programs at Ohio State.

@equationlover - have you tried https://www.thestemnet.com/resource/stem-internships-and-summer-opportunities-high-school-students

There is an article on mysummeradvisor.com about research opportunities for HS students. Some of these are in engineering. Also, use the academic search function to find engineering programs. There may be options for state residents, females, minorities, etc.

@itsv thanks again for the wonderful guidance! @MedSciBud @BelleofAmherst thank you as well. I looked into these, and the programs at OSU seem to be my best bet, even though they are not longer than 2 weeks or offer internship opportunities.

I’m trying to get my family to let me go to SWE’s engineering camp at UMich (dream school) but it’s quite a reach. :))

@equationlover- just apply for it and financial aid and see how things turn out- you never know. Be sure to apply for the Joyce Ivy scholarship-you live in one of the states that is eligible and it can help you pay for a summer program. Plus summer program apps are good test runs for college apps so the practice will come in handy.

Also the SEAP internship might be one you want to look into for next year. http://seap.asee.org/program_details

EngineerGirl is another good website. Look it over for the programs listed and other opportunties. http://www.engineergirl.org/GetThere/ClubsAndPrograms/255.aspx
