How hard/easy is it to get a good gpa in running start? I’ve heard the average gpa was around 3.0 which is very bad to the colleges. I’m a sophomore in highschool and I have a 3.7 which is bad because this year im only taking honors english and ap human geo. I’m scared my gpa will be very low, I’m not sure how hard or easy it is to get A’s in community college, I try very hard in my classes but I don’t get the best grade because of how much work my school gives me through projects and homework due the next day. I get good grades on all my tests and this year my grades are holding up good.
If you’re taking your classes through your local community college, they should be relatively manageable. If you are planning on taking those classes through a local university, the workload will be heavier but still pretty reasonable. I’d imagine that the difficulty will be similar to your AP human geo class.
College courses may cover material faster than high school courses (this can be more noticeable in math and foreign language, but there are other subjects where a year long high school AP course covers similar material as a semester or quarter long college course).
College courses often have less daily homework, expecting students to self motivate studying. Grading often emphasizes projects and/or tests.
for math classes, do they give us problems to do? Or do we have to study them or ourselve? I find that homework takes up too much of my studying time, if I study on a test I get excellent grades, the more time I study, the better the grade. In community college, do they teach you the stuff that is on the test, or do they give you information and you have to apply it when taking the test?
College math courses commonly give weekly homework.
Test (and homework) problems will (or should, in any decent college or high school course) require you to apply concepts learned in class and from reading to solve problems. You can of course, do additional problems for more practice.
