Has anyone who has been accepted receive a packet from UConn yet? Supposedly the amount of financial aid that they’ll give you will be stated sumwhere inside but I didn’t find it…

I think you will get merit aid mentioned in the packet, but financial aid is in April after you submit your FAFSA.

Could you guys who got into the Honors program please post your stats? I’m waiting to hear back and am hoping to get in.

Also, does Uconn look at SAT writing?

There is a separate letter included in my daughter’s acceptance packet explaining her merit award. I don’t know about financial aid. Sorry.

Sorry thats what I meant… Merit. I didn’t get a merit award letter.

andybatts, My son’s app was complete on 10/27 and he had his decision 11/16 - 3 weeks.

Son just checked and got in. His application was complete on 11/2 - two days ago his status said the application was complete and to allow up to 4 weeks.

Mine was completed on Nov 2nd, still no word.

a lot of it could be the college you are applying to - son applied to college of liberal arts and science - biological sciences - typically one of the larger colleges within the university but who knows.

My son found out yesterday online he was accepted into UCONN Honors into the Engineering Program at Storrs. His application status was updated on 11/17/11 as complete, and although they said to allow 4 weeks for a decision, he was notified on 11/18/11 of acceptance.

He scored a 1460/1600 on SAT’s, 35 on ACT and is ranked #3 in a class of 80.

For those who already received acceptance letters in the mail - how long did it take for the packet to come in the mail? Is that when you find out if you received any merit money?

Thanks!!

I applied to Liberal Arts and Sciences… 6/400 in my class, 29 ACT so it’s not as if my stats are poor.

could even be a situation of who in admissions is reviewing your application and the major you put down within that college. Liberal Arts and Sciences has tons of majors.

I’m sure it will be soon. given your stats - not sure what a 29 equates to in SAT language -son had 1950 sounds about the same. Son is lower in the class % wise - top 20% but our high school is extremely competitive and colleges in New England know that.

Son also is very interested in science and is taking at least 3 science classes fall semester alone and got great 1st quarter grades in them, so I’m sure that helps.

Sounds like uconn is your first choice - it is a great school - I agree. what major did you apply for? I don’t think a lot of kids have heard yet.

It’s not my first choice but it’s in my top 3. I applied for history. And yes my 29 is close to a 1950. I might try and see at some point if I actually attend if I could double major with journalism.

Joann1965 - Acceptance packet came less than a week later with merit award letter included. :)

We did receive the official acceptance letter in the mail today and although my son was admitted into the Honors Program there was no letter in the packet detailing any merit award. Does this mean he was not awarded any merit money? I know many of the posts I have read students have received 1/2 tuition when accepted into Honors.

Any help would be appreciated!

My application was complete on November 2nd, any idea when I will hear back?

applefan9-That’s when mine was completed and I’m still waiting as well.

Andybatts- pm when you find out, I will do the same as well

Yeah, mine was also completed on the 2nd. It’ll be interesting to see when our decisions come out.

Is uconn like rutgers, where they admit the highly qualified students first and delay/hold on the average students?
