Does anyone know when decisions are sent?

Check it on Wesleyan’s website but this is a copy-paste from Bard’s.

Campus Employment
Campus Employment is an indication of the student’s eligibility to work on campus. It is not a guarantee of the amount indicated. The student will be paid in accord with the hours worked and will receive the amount earned on a twice-monthly payroll. Earnings from employment are primarily used to cover book and personal expenses; the award is not to be used for credit against tuition and fee charges. The college will assist international students in finding employment. Eligible students should contact the Student Employment Manager for assistance.

How are U.S. students being notified? Snail mail or email?

Bard sends acceptances in regular business sized envelopes, but the contents feel thick, so you will know it’s good news as soon as you hold it in your hand. I did hear that somewhere before, but it’s not bad to repeat it today! Good luck!

ACCEPTED!! I just got it today, and I was worried because I was already waitlisted at Vassar. They wrote that I’m also an Excellence and Equal Costs Scholar!! I hope this is enough for me to go there, if not I’ll probably just go to UF

Still haven’t heard…They wouldn’t just…ignore me would they? They’d say SOMETHING even to the rejected right?

Does Bard send acceptances to int’s via regular mail?

I live in Florida and received it regular mail. They wouldn’t ignore you, don’t worry I had to wait for other letters like a week after I was supposed to get it! I’m sure you’ll get it soon, and I know how frustrating it is, so good luck!!!

jen;

Congrats! That is so wild…I got waitlisted at Vassar too, but accepted to Bard with EEC. What a grand coincidence!

I was accepted today and got an EEC scholarship  but if the COA at a school in my state is like 18K does that mean they expect me to come up with that much, or will I recieve other aid to cover that cost (like pell grant, loans, seog)

Today I watched a documentary about the victims of Madoff’s fraud and they said Bard lost a few million dollars. Did it seriously affect the college?

I think that Bard did not have that much invested with Madoff. It is hard to get info on the endowment, though.

By Janet Frankston Lorin

Jan. 5 (Bloomberg) – Bard College, a liberal-arts school in New York State’s Hudson Valley, lost about $3 million in investments related to Bernard Madoff.

The losses involved $11 million of Bard’s $270 million endowment that the college invested in the Ariel Fund, managed by J. Ezra Merkin, Bard President Leon Botstein said today in a telephone interview from Jerusalem. Merkin was introduced to the school by the late Leon Levy, a Bard trustee who founded OppenheimerFunds Inc., and Merkin serves as a governor of Bard’s Levy Economics Institute, Botstein said.

P.S. does anyone know whats the exact cost for 2010/2011?
it says its app. 52k for 2009/10.

Hey guys,

I was wondering how difficult it to maintain a 3.3 GPA? I’m doing IB, and some say that it’s difficult and will do better at college but I’m not really sure coz it’s challenging but not that much :S

If you like to read, like to write, like to discuss - you’ll do fine at Bard. And the professors are absolutely available to help in every way. That doesn’t mean there’s no work, nor that the expectations aren’t high - but if you’re willing to put in the effort you shouldn’t have a problem keeping your scholarship.

It really depends on the courses you take.

I’ve had friends who found it easy to maintain an A average. I’ve had friends, and this includes myself, who found it difficult to to get even a B average.

If you take a reading-heavy course load at Bard, which means a LOT of reading (also, I don’t particularly recommend this your first or second semester because of FYSEM), it will be harder to maintain solely because of the sheer amount of reading and writing you will have to do at all times.

I’m planning to major in ecnon and mathematics and although I like reading in my spare time, not into deep analysis, etc. I mean, I prefer to concentrate on my majors but I know I have to fulfil the requirements.
