Does anyone know how financial awards will be distributed?? Email, mail, or on the portal??
Are you referring to financial aid or merit money? I think with financial aid, it should come with your notification of acceptance, as that’s the only way to break an early decision commitment (if aid amount isn’t sufficient) Not sure about notification of a merit scholarship.
So, asked the Counselor what the “glitch” was all about and all she would tell me was that it involved all ED applications. Could very well have been the Final HS Grades thing, who knows. In the grand scheme of things, one more day really doesn’t matter.
As far as financial aid, my son is a Football recruit so they did a financial aid pre-read for us and…we got nada, zippo, zero. Apparently, according to the formula they use, we were unable to demonstrate need. You will get your financial aid info along with your acceptance info.
I asked the financial aid officer working on our file about the merit scholarships and she told me that they were determined by admissions and that the financial aid office is not notified about those awards.
Keeping fingers crossed…
Ok, thanks for the info. Even though we’re all ED, financial aid is (at least to e and my family) so so important…especially that I just got in to another college with a ton of aid
Does anyone know if Dickinson takes the amount of kids applying from one school into account for ED? There are 4 kids applying ED in my school and two of them are athletes…makes me worry about my chances of getting in even though I am above all the reported academic averages.
Right there with you. We don’t qualify for financial aid but would be most grateful for some merit money, assuming our daughter gets in. Good luck to your son and thanks for updating this page.
@ilanag3 I’m confused. How can you already have been accepted to another school when the ED Agreement we all signed says you will only apply to Dickinson and will attend if accepted?
@djhjrnh it’s totally okay to apply to other schools before you’re notified of your acceptance, you just can’t apply elsewhere if you get accepted. If you get accepted, you have to go and withdraw your apps from other schools.
Ah, yes, you’re right. I was thinking about applying ED to more than one school. My bad.
Both the college twitter and the admissions twitter just posted about totally non-ED related stuff…this is KILLING me
Same here…someone call the admissions office and ask.
The account just tweeted it will be out “later this week”… does that mean it won’t even be ready by tomorrow? I honestly don’t know how much more waiting I can handle. This is starting to get a little ridiculous.
Friend who called the office this morning was told not today but should be by the end of the week.
@janjmom, seriously?? Omg, that’s the pits. My kid will probably be okay with it, but I’m going nuts here, lol.
I can’t say for sure…maybe the admissions person was just covering in case they did not release today. Who knows??? At this point, I think a “you’ll know when you know” attitude makes the most sense!
Dickinson Twitter account finally answered some questions… it will not be today, and they are working hard to fix the technical glitch and get the letters out the door. I’m guessing it will be Thursday, because “later this week” makes it sound like it won’t be tomorrow.
Here are the last two Tweets from Admissions:
“We’re in a sea of applications, coming up for air to share that we’ll release decisions for our amazing #dson2020 ED1 group later this week!”
“Regarding ED1-- we are currently working to ensure that online systems are running correctly. Nothing worse than sending out wrong info!”
Whatever happened to just mailing out a letter?
Exactly what I was thinking…they say they are having technical difficulties and that’s why they can’t release them yet. But how would that affect the release of the letters?
Does anyone think it will be tomorrow? Or later this week as in Thursday/Friday?
Auuugghhhhhh guys is anyone else just dying waiting? I really hope it’s tomorrow, based on that guidance counselor phone call. I’m so stressed.
