Does anyone know when merit/finaid packages will be sent?

D hasn’t gotten an email. I also checked her “application status” and there’s no change. For that matter the status doesn’t even show “accepted,” though she got acceptances by snail mail and email. Grrrr.

@Callandor - if you don’t mind me asking - how much was merit?

@thshadow S got FA email yesterday. We was awarded $14k/yr in merit and $45k/yr in student and parent loans. Oh well. Unaffordable.

@snoozn ^^^

@STEM2017, I’m glad you got your letter, but that’s a real bummer on the FA. I’m thinking D will not get a ton of merit either. Maybe that’s why I’ve been telling myself that it’s probably not the best school for her. Obviously it’s a great engineering school. She loves the geek factor. But one hears from little birdies that it may be a bit of a grind factory, perhaps too conservative and boy do there seem to be some diversity issues. Okay, now that I have my sour grapes all ready: SHOW ME THE MONEY! At the very least tell us she’s not getting any. :!!

@thshadow My 20k award was a around a 10k merit scholarship and a 10k grant.

Although expensive, it’s still my first choice.

D finally got her snail mail and more generous aid than I expected. Whew.

My D got her yesterday. It was a good award for most places, about $26K total, the bulk of that in merit, but there is no way we or she can take on the amount of loans that would be needed. She’d need about $20K per year in loans after our EFC which is astronomically high as it is. And I have an older child still in college. I love the atmosphere there and I think she would thrive, but I don’t think it’s feasible at this point. I really felt quite sad when I read the award. But, honestly, I’ve felt pretty sad with all awards from all colleges thus far.

@Janniegirl D got similar package, although it’s a hefty award, it’s also significant debt. No doubt that RHIT is worth the price, but that debt is scary.

What is the max merit aid people were offered? My son got 16500 and I had really thought he would get a bit more. He scores are way above the 75%, strong course work with all a’s, is a nmsf, has strong ec, and is a recruited.athlete.

@rosegeo You should call and ask. Speak to Melinda Middleton. She’s very helpful.

@rosegeo My D got about $21000 in merit specifically.

{deleted - I didn’t realize which school’s forum I was on… :open_mouth: }

33K a year in merit scholarships. 135K a year for tuition. 50k for room and board seperate scholarship they invited me to apply for. Pretty good news but still curious about the town…sounds very country and very boring.
