So we should be expecting an update this week…possibly weds (April 1) or before??

No, prereqs for your major are NOT required for TAG, unless it’s an impacted major.

thanks guys(especially kkiiji)…that means i have TAG then…i better be guaranteed!!

alright im ready…lol

iamlegendary I really can’t comprehend how you couldn’t just open the link that was provided so many times to see if you were TAG eligible for yourself. WOW

fyi, i did read it multiple times, i just wanted to clarify if i was right, because im not familiar with TAG, and for other schools, there are written agreement, i wasnt aware UCSD’s TAG wasnt, for i didnt sign any TAG with any school. also, i wasnt aware there was a TAG until i signed up for this site like earlier this month…

i didnt mean to frustrate you…

^
I’m more confused than ever. Just because UCSD does NOT require the TAG form to be filled out does NOT mean that you have TAG simply because you did all the things you have needed to do if you DID fill out the TAG. So just to clarify, you aren’t TAG certified. [:

Best of luck!

aww man…so i dont?? this sux…

can you tell me why??

^
You don’t because you didn’t do the required paperwork. It’s like an application and then all of your paperwork attached (IGETC, transcripts, etc.)

No worries, UCSD doesn’t really care about TAGs, which is why they don’t emphasize on using them. It just slows down the process for them.

All you have to do is meet the eligibility requirements and indicate TAG on the application, the paperwork was optional.

“An optional TAG form will be available in Fall 2008 and information will be posted on ASSIST, the online student transfer information system, as well as the UCSD Web site.”
[Transfer Admission Guarantee (TAG) 2009-2010](http://www.ucsd.edu/prospective-students/admissions/undergraduate-admissions/transfer/tag.html)

Again, it IS optional but they want it if you are pursing a TAG. I agree with you, LOL. I think they should or should not have the TAG, but I double-checked with my admissions friend at UCSD. If you didn’t do the paperwork then they would assume you aren’t for the TAG and just applying as transfer (which is what they want).

In the end, TAG or no TAG, I don’t think it matters.

The fact that people who submitted formal TAGs w/ UCSD this year did not hear back at all about them would lead me to believe quite the opposite. Submitting the paperwork for the UCSD TAG was completely pointless this year.

That’s what I mean. UCSD admissions doesn’t want to deal with TAG paperwork, it’s extensive which is why they need more time to review them. Hence why people WITH TAG are freaking out because they haven’t heard back. Which is pretty bad considering they don’t read the personal statements. Haha.

According to my counselor, admissions over at UCSD was having a big problem with CC’s giving wrong information to their students about TAG. He said all you had to do was finish IGETC, get the 3.0, and mark TAG on the application and they would let you in.

oh how i wish it were that easy ^

Not much harder. Just have the math and english classes done by the end of Fall and it is that easy.

I don’t blame your counselor though because at my CC, one of the counselors that I first went to told me that I had to send my TAG form (even though it has to be signed and sent in by the campus itself after reviewing)…counselors in general are just not getting the right information regarding TAG forms! :/

WTH, my counselor also told me that I didn’t need to send in the tag form. I still have a signed copy and so does my CC, I just never sent it in because I was told it’s optional. Even the TAG workshop said that you only have to indicate TAG and IGETC on your UC App which I did.

I doubt they actually require paperwork, why would they tell us to just indicate TAG and IGETC everywhere if they actually wanted TAG paperwork? That makes no sense.

2009-2010 details

* Starting in Fall 2009, TAG will include all California community colleges. The program will be offered for students transferring in Fall or Winter quarters only.
- California community college students can participate in this guarantee if they complete the requirements and submit a UC application during the filing period for Fall (Nov. 1-30, 2008) or Winter (July 1-31, 2009).
- If you indicate TAG and Intersegmental General Education Transfer Curriculum (IGETC) on your UCSD application, you will be guaranteed admission if you meet the TAG requirements.
- Full completion of IGETC is required. UCSD must receive your IGETC certification form by July 15, 2009, for Fall Quarter 2009 (IGETC completed by end of Spring 2009), and Sept. 15, 2009, for Winter Quarter 2010 (IGETC completed by end of Summer 2009).

- An optional TAG form will be available in Fall 2008 and information will be posted on ASSIST, the online student transfer information system, as well as the UCSD Web site.

Sakura you are probably wrong about this. There’s no way that somehow tells us that we need to send in a form.

I was going to send in my UCSD TAG because I was really anxious about getting in but after talking to my admissions friend she just told me that it wasn’t necessary, so I didn’t, so I’m in the same boat as you…and thus we already got accepted.

sakurax what was your gpa ?
