I am so worried whether it has got my materials.

When did you send them? It does take awhile for schools to process things.

Now if you are expecting a school to respond to an email from you asking if they have received your application, don't hold your breath. They don't have time to do that and often say they won't respond to such inquiries. You should receive an acknowledgement of your application within a reasonable amount of time. Ask on the Dartmouth board how long it usually takes them. For the schools we dealt with, it usually was one to two weeks before we heard anything. And the schools had their own ways of letting applicants know -- they weren't going to respond to phone calls or emails about application materials.

For future reference, send things by Fed Ex. Then you know when things are received.

If you sent a check or credit card information, that is one way of knowing they have received your application! I remember one school couldn't find my daughter's application, but between the Fed Ex tracking and the school's cashing of my check, they couldn't claim they never received it.

Thanks very much for your help.

But I am so worried whether I have missed something. Will they tell me what I am missing? I don't want to miss my ED deadline.

Neither of my children applied to Dartmouth. But every place they did apply had a procedure for letting applicants know that their files were complete. I can't remember all that happened with my son. For my daughter, though, two schools didn't get her ACT scores and one didn't receive one of the recommendations. They all let us know and these deficiencies were taken care of.

Some schools will send you a password (it takes a bit of time to get) and you can check online to make sure everything is there. Other schools might email or send a postcard to tell you of any deficiency. I don't know the approach Dartmouth uses; perhaps they can tell you on the Dartmouth board. This subject might also be covered in the application instructions or on the school's web site.

I haven't heard of any school that fails to inform people that applications are incomplete. Having hung out on CC for a bit, I think if it happened I would have heard :)
