OK, I'm hesitant about posting this thread since it's so specific, but I think it's a legitimate question and I know there are others who will probably find it helpful. Basically, is there anyone who's been to Exeter or Andover, is now safely at college, and wouldn't mind giving me (us, the Internet, whatever) your stats? Nothing lengthy, just something like:

Exeter/Andover, which college, cumulative HS GPA, percentile (know they don't report rank, but there's always some way of estimating), any hooks (athlete, legacy, URM etc.)? or whatever else you want to report.

I do have info from Exeter's CCO but nevertheless, I would love to hear some real live success stories : )

And sorry for the high volume posting lately! Getting last term's grades + being sequestered in the middle of Canada with nothing to do = pre-college neuroses, big time.

Have not yet graduated, but yes, I am a victim of Phillips Academy. :) Thanks for coming up with this thread, because I'm pretty desperate for someone to convince me that I'm not going to go Four C's by the Sea... aka Cape Cod Community College.

Eh, I would say that's a stereotype. You should have seen how hard the class of '08 worked to get into college; most of my senior friends were at their wit's end by senior fall. If people at E/A counted on their legacy and cash to get in, the environment wouldn't be nearly as cutthroat as it is (Exeter, at least, is pretty damn cutthroat). Besides, legacy, cash, and name recognition don't even count as much as they did before (we had a kid who as like, a 12th generation legacy at some college and didn't get into it).

But, our senior class had a freakishly high GPA (highest in 50 years or something) and the '08 college year was supposed to be brutal anyway.

Why can't you just look on your school's Naviance and get stats. Anyone who is not in the top right quadrant of the graph obviously is an athlete, legacy or another hook.
