Does AP Credit Count towards the 60 Unit Transfer Quota at California State Universities?

So, I’m trying to transfer to SJSU for Fall of 2016. I actually attended the school my freshman year and had some health issues so I went back home and went to a local school for a year. Anyways, like many freshman I had only taken 12 units per semester, leaving with 24. I wasn’t aware that I needed 60 units to go back until after I left. Of course, the Cal State Public System is not very reliable so I was told by someone in pre-admissions that as a returning student I didn’t need to make the 60 unit quota (now I’ve realized that’s not true) and only took 15 units this semester (fall 2015.) Now, knowing that I do in fact need 60 units, that means I have to TAKE 21 UNITS IN ONE SEMESTER, which sucks ass. But, I took AP European History and passed with a three. When I went to mysjsu account it listed the AP credit in my transfer report under “Test/Exam Credit.” It said it was good for 6 units! That means I’d only have to take 15 in spring 2016 instead of a killer 21. Can anyone confirm this. I’ve seen a lot of post about this in the UC section but not the Cal State System. I’ve called a bunch of different SJSU departments to make sure. But, like I said, sjsu faculty isn’t all that reliable and I’d hate to drop 2 of the 7 classes I’ve already enrolled in, only to find out that I did in fact need them to transfer.

TL;DR: Does AP Test Credit count towards the 60 unit transfer quota for CAL STATE schools, specifically San Jose State University. Does anyone have any experience with this particular situation?

Note footnote 1: “These units count toward eligibility for admission.”

However, if you actually attended SJSU for a year, you may qualify for some priority treatment for readmission over regular transfer students. See http://info.sjsu.edu/web-dbgen/narr/admission/rec-7327.10799.html .
