Does AP English Literature Matter?

It honestly depends on your teacher. I’ve only read one novel so far (out of four we’ve been assigned, plus poetry and short stories) and I’m doing well in the class. I hate the teacher and class, though, and find it a huge waste of my time. If you know you’ll have a good teacher, it’s probably worth it to take it.

I don’t think you should worry too much. Once you are focused on the task at hand, everything falls into place. The important thing is to decide what you really want to do. Search the Internet for some guidelines and directions to your course. Taking the [AP English Literature](AP English Literature and Composition Exam Prep & Review Guide) does have its advantages, You might want to consider taking help from sites such as Shmoop. Their study material is really interesting. Can you believe it? I’m really enjoying the course! It challenges my mind in a different way and that is what I love about it.

It’s easy to get burnt out on AP Lit. I’d advise against taking it just to impress adcoms, especially since you’re already taking Language and will have a lot of memorizing to do next year.

On the other hand, if you like the teacher and think it could be a formative intellectual experience, go for it. It was for me, so staying motivated was not a problem.

omg! the ap test is tomorrow. im so irritated. i hate it.
