I just took my AP US test today, and tomorrow I'm taking the SATII, which I'm not really studying for since I studied a lot for the AP test. I was told that the two are completely different, but not how, and I don't know if one is harder than the other. Do people who get 5's on the AP US test get 800's on the SATII, or is it completely up in the air? In short, I just want to know the basics: can I get away with not studying for the SATII, what are the differences, and which one is harder.

I have the same situation and wondered this too...But seeing as I waited until today to study for my other two tests tomorrow, I'm putting off the US and hoping I can do well with just my AP prep

I was wondering about this too, but I have a friend who took it last year the day after the AP exam and said some of the questions were very similar. So hopefully it won't be too bad, though I thought the MC on the AP exam today was kind of hard.

Also, does anyone happen to know the curve for the SAT II?

I heard that you can miss about 4 to get an 8oo on the US History. That is, without any omits, etc.

how many questions are on the SAT II and how much time do you get? I will take it tomorrow.

90 questions in an hour

That's just as bad as the AP, which is 80 questions in 55 minutes.

According to my history teacher, the SAT is way harder than the AP because the SAT asks very specific facts (as in, Who wrote "The House of Mirth"?) versus the AP asks more "conceptual" or "cause and effect" questions, so to speak.

Oh well, we'll see which one is easier tomorrow.

But you do get about the same amount of time on each one though. 55 minutes for 80 MC on the AP; 60 minutes for 90 MC on the SAT.

I have AMSCO and REA (didn't use; too long). Do you think it's worth it to get a new book for the SAT II? Which is the best?

i took the APUSH test 2day morning

took a practice SAT II History today

got a 660...... cept I want a 700..... grr.

the MC is much harder on SAT II USH.

judging by the 16 practice questions on the collegeboard website, the two tests seem about the same...i took the usap today and i found the questions to be very similar

The ones on CB seem REALLY easy...

Crap. I'm taking it tomorrow.. I thought it was going to be easier than AP USH, so I just studied for apush..

How many wrong would equal a 700 & 750?

A raw score of 72/90 roughly corresponds to a 750, and a raw score of 63/90 roughly corresponds to a 700.

its a lot easier from what i hear.

my friend missed 12 and still got a 790. plus the material is easier. some questions are just about reading a graph, map, etc.

If the sample questions on collegeboard are anything like the actual SAT2 hist. test than the subj. test is a lot easier than APUSH. I only missed one out of 16 questions on collegeboard, but didnt do nearly as well on APUSH sample questions...

how does he know he missed twelve? do we get detailed test reports for the SAT II?

i did the same thing as you all last year...AP on a friday, SAT on the Saturday. really a split opinion--there was no agreement on which was easier. personally i thought the MC was about equal, and the fact that there were no essays and the test was shorter made the SAT 10x easier.

it is not at all worth studying tonite.

It's not possible out how many you missed on SAT IIs.... and missing 12 generally does not yield a 790... (provided that one missed the rest, as opposed to omitting)
