Does applying Early Action have the same boost as Early Decision?

<p>^^I would think for schools like Bently and Butler, a well-crafted ‘Why xx Essay’ could easily boost the RD chances into EA numbers.</p>

<p>I suspect that sometimes it has to do with the dedication of the applicant pool for EA. At a college like Butler, it may be that the early applicants are the ones who make their devotion to the University plain, and that’s how they get admitted at a higher rate than the regular decision applicants do. And of course, there’s also that old saw about the early applicants being disproportionately recruited athletes, legacies and so on.</p>

<p>I am just hypothesizing, but these things could account for an EA admissions rate that looks higher even when the a standard for admission isn’t really different, or is even stricter.</p>
