Does applying early decision have an effect on the impact of a legacy?

My daughter is considering going to school where I attended, but she does not want to apply early decision. Will being a legacy still have the same impact in the decision-making process? Thanks!

Depends what school. I believe Penn is on the record saying that legacy status is considered only during the ED round.

I think legacy really only has an impact early as most schools encourage legacies to apply during the early round.

Agreed that it depends highly on the school. Some place very high value on legacy admission while others don’t seem to care much. It’s a good question for the admissions dept at the school you’re looking at.
