Does applying ED to one school jeopardize application to EA choices?

If I apply ED to one school, can that app be “seen” by other schools such that it would jeopordize my EA application with them. Thank you.

No

No, they don’t know where you are applying. There was an issue years ago where the financial aid office was able to see the other schools that you had sent the FAFSA. That has been fixed.

No, but keep in mind that if you are admitted ED, you HAVE to attend (except for financial reasons etc.) So make the decision to apply ED carefully, making sure ALL of the following are true:

  1. You LOVE your ED school and would 110% attend if admitted.
  2. You're extremely confident you can present a well thought out and crafted application by the ED deadline, which is typically November 1st.
  3. You and your family can afford your ED school if admitted (run financial aid calculators if applicable.)

Also, some schools offer Restrictive/Single-Choice Early Action, which has different rules than non-binding Early Action. These schools (HYPS, Georgetown, Notre Dame etc.) typically do not allow applying ED anywhere, and have strict rules on where you can apply non-binding EA to (only public universities, for example.) Read the admissions websites in detail for the schools you’re interested in before applying.

Hope that helps! Good luck with admissions!
