Does applying for Financial Aid have a direct impact on your admission decision?

I read everywhere on CC that if you did not apply for financial aid, you have slightly better of a chance of getting into USC than if you DID apply for financial aid....

granted that everything else about you is the same.

Is this true?? If it is, I want to withdraw my financial aid :( I'd rather pay the original amount and get in than to NOT get in.

Also, financial aid is applied thru FASFA, nowhere else, right?

Yeah. It does. Every time i call admissions and ask about something on the gateway account thing they say 'Well you don't need financial aid, so ignore that'

It's almost as if money is in their head all the time. it sucks i know but i guess that is how it is. Sorry :(

Of all the screen names on cc yours seems perfect. I really hope you get in soon!

No, the process is need-blind for domestic applicants, which jamiepd is not.

Yea, it should be blind. Even if it wasn't, USC is a very generous school >.< I don't think applying to FAFSA would lower your chance of getting in.
