I know this might be a stupid question, but I really dont know much about the UC system.
Does applying to UCLA and UCB decrease your chances of getting into UCB?
I heard that people get into either one of them but not both..?
Thanks :D
PS: please dont tell me to look at the UC website I've already done that.

Answer: No

no. i got into both, as did many many other people.

No, no, no. I got accepted into both plus UCSD.

My D got into both. It doesn’t matter.

Yes. So you better hope you get the one you want. I heard the two schools meet and tell each other which students they’ve admitted. Crazy right?

No, applying to both would only increase your chances of getting into at least one. But it is a common misconception that many people assume since there is a large amount of people accepted to one and not to the other.

Was accepted to both with Regents at both.

Yes, so don’t apply to UCLA! :p

(Unless you want to be “safe”, then don’t apply to Berkeley.)

Well, I do believe that applying to both won’t affect your chances - I know a lot of people accepted to both with no problem.
I don’t think, while they are both in the California system, they compete against each other - so they will not give beloved students to each other even if they compare the so-called admitted list.

Doubt it, I got into all five of the UCs I applied to.

I got accepted to Berkeley and UCLA too, so no. But I heard that it is more common that people get one or the other and its less common to get into both. I don’t know though …
