I’m an ASU alum and my D will probably apply, but I don’t think we’ll be able to get out to Tempe before she does so.
Does ASU/Cronkite/Barrett commonly hold an admitted students visit day in the spring, and what is the typical time frame?

As far as I know, ASU does not have admitted student’s days. However, unless it has changed, Barrett does invite National Merit and National Hispanic Finalists to come out for an overnight visit and will reimburse at least some of the flight expense.They arrange the visit schedule, including visits with Honors professors, potential major professors, and tours. If asked, the Barrett office may help arrange the schedule for other accepted students as well even if they don’t offer reimbursement for a plane ticket. You can also sign up for general campus tours and possibly Barrett tours on line as well.

We are “Non-STEM Family,” at least in this context (I’m the outlier). The Cronkite School is the one of interest.
I’m thinking that over Christmas if we can swing a SDF - MDW - PHX - SDF circuit by air on Southwest (to include a visit with Grandma in Prescott, AZ), that might help with raising ASU’s appeal, relative to Chicago, Boston, and some of the other Northeastern locations under consideration. Which have all been visited in the spring and summer.
Although if D pulls out her “can’t go to school in a red state” claim once again, like with Bama (darned kids!!!), we may have to counter with a map that shows just how much she would be limiting herself. Particularly since most red states have one or more big blue spots in them somewhere - most often the largest city / state capital / flagship university town - and one would really miss out by disregarding those.
@ohiovalley16 You can tell your daughter that Tempe skews liberal; it is not Berkeley, but she will see for herself. Also, contrary to the National perception, Arizona is the only state in the U.S. with four straight woman governors, including liberal Democrat Janet Napolitano for two terms. Governor Napolitano is now the president of the University of California system. Neil Giuliano served four terms as Mayor of Tempe and was one of the few openly gay mayors in the U.S. The current and past Phoenix mayors are both Democrats.

I have terrific memories of my formative young adult years in AZ from 1982-91. Among other things, I have a 22-year marriage - to a guy who was living in Connecticut when we met in Tempe in 1990 - to show for it.

Tempe is blue. We like to think that we (and Tucson) are moving the whole state towards purple.
Ugh, I wish @ohiovalley16. We live on a rock in the middle of the Pacific ocean (Oahu), which makes college visits difficult. We did a grand tour of California colleges last fall before she really understood what she wanted and we could afford. At this point, we are looking at visiting the top 2-3 choices she gets accepted to in the early Spring.
