Does attending undergrad significantly increase one's chances of going to Harvard medical school?

Nope. In fact, since your GPA is likely to be killed in the company of the hundreds of other crazy Harvard pre-meds, it probably lowers your chances. If you can manage to get at least a 3.7 GPA, and preferably a >3.8 GPA at Harvard, including your science GPA, you have a very good shot at Harvard med. Of course, that's much easier said than done. Anything lower than that, your chances are not very viable, since med school admissions is in general a numbers game. They care less than you would think about where you went to undergrad, though it does make some difference. But to answer your question, it does not "significantly* increase one's chances.

However, I am not a med school admissions expert; this is just information that I've culled from books and many threads about this subject in the Med forum on CC.
