Does being a Legacy help with Skidmore Admission?

Hi, I’m looking at skidmore as one of my top choices, and I was wondering if being a legacy would give me a “one up” in the application process. My family doesn’t go generations back, but my father is a Skidmore alumnus. What are my chances of being accepted?

For reference, here’s my academic profile

  • 3.7 weighted GPA, 3.83 UW
  • 3 honors classes - english, spanish, history (we don’t have APs)
  • 31 on ACT, 11 on writing
  • 4 years varsity girls soccer
  • 2 years of publications (student art collective)
  • published author in award winning school magazine
  • 3 years volunteer with a nonprofit for underprivileged children in Los Angeles (United in Harmony)
  • 2 years of running my school club of said organization^
  • 4 years of creative writing
  • 2 years of ceramics
  • 5 years of Spanish (honors Spanish literature level)

Yes and your stats look good. I think you’ll get in.

Your GPA is borderline, ACT score looks good.

If you decide that Skidmore really is the college for you, I’d strongly recommend going the ED route. 49% of the class of 2021 got in that way. And although Skidmore’s overall acceptance rate was 24.5% last year, that breaks down as 52% of ED applicants accepted, while 23% of RD applicants were accepted. As you can see, ED’ing substantially increases your chances.

Also, I see you played soccer for 4 years. You may want to consider applying as a prospective athlete. That helps too.
