I've heard that it's too "boring" but is that true or not? Or does that depend on what type of school you're applying to?

I think it matters depending on what you tutored. For example, I was a math tutor and I put that on my college application because the major I am applying for is Computer Science and Mathematics. So if it has some relevance to the major you are applying for, which I assume it should, then I would put it.

Bumpbumpbump

I did a lot of tutoring activities and I put all of them down on my application.
Being “boring” doesn’t have anything to do with it. If you put in a lot of effort and you found it a worthwhile activity then put it down. Schools usually want to see students who are well-rounded and being able to tutor someone else shows a lot of different skills.

Hint: to 90% of the schools out there, what you do doesn’t matter as long as you enjoy it and are doing something with your time not playing video games and eating chips all day. Being a tutor is great, but its no different than working any other job really.

If you’re looking at most state schools, it really doesn’t matter. Only to the hyper-selective schools do really well rounded EC’s matter because they need something to be the deal breaker.
