Does being an out of state applicant give slight boost in admissions?

I've noticed a lot cmc's population is comprised of California residents, so would being from NYC and hispanic provide a slight boost in admissions.

Not necessarily - we have a good population from NY. One of the deans was interviewed a few months ago and admitted that while geography in general doesn’t matter, if they come down to 2 students with very similar stats, they’ll pick one from the more “exotic” state. I’d think NY isn’t one of them :/

yea I would think colleges have suffient NY applicants, although some places in Nyc are quite exotic

According to the above link New York state provides the fourth largest group of enrolled students (CA - 502, WA - 109, OR - 46, NY - 45) so it’s hard to see how being from New York is going to be much help.
