Does being from the state make a huge difference

-got a 5 on US History AP Exam
-member of math team, model legislature, and national honor society
-Track and field and cross country (best distance runner on team)
-3.8 Average
-17th/268 </p>

<p>Out-of-state students have a lower priority for admission for any UC.</p>

<p>However, you seem like a strong student, and UC Santa Cruz is not one of the really competitive UCs, so you should be fine.</p>
