<p>I am a NYC resident who applied to NYU. I was wondering if living in NYC would help or hurt your chances.</p>
<p>NYU is a private university. Being in state has no effect. </p>
<p>If ANYTHING, the school wants a diverse population and there are many applicants from the state of NY. But it is a big school and thus it takes many from NY accordingly. But there is surely NO advantage to being from NY. That is an issue when talking of state schools, which NYU is not.</p>
