Does being in the IB Program help?

AP is easier than IB. according to my teacher sponsor, who has taught both.

i don't think u can make a statement as to which one is easier... work load and class intensity varies. my ap gov't class happened to be harder than my IB history class (with the same teacher)

and at my school at least, work comes in waves - a couple long term assignments do one week, no hw at all the next... and it's different for each program.

well IB Diploma is harder than taking 5 APs.
IB History is easy, but when you have all 6 subjects plus EE plus TOK plus CAS.....it's REALLY hard. i have a lot of pressure right now. oh dear god help me.

IB is way harder than AP. Like other people have said IB requires MUCH more work than AP, and it has more of a college feel than AP. I know so many of my friends who self study for AP exams and score 5's off the bat. Thats not the case with IB. IB requires previous knowledge and tests EVERYTHING. If you scored a 5 on the AP AB calc test, you would be lucky to get a 5 on the IB HL math test, dont even consider getting a 7. To make one thing clear. Honors DOES NOT COME CLOSE TO IB! Yea i have alot of pressure too. Spanish orals, IA History, Chem portfolio, Math portfolio, World Lit 1 and 2, English Orals, Group 4. Damn I hate those seniors who take like 5 gym classes, ahh they so lucky. I thought senior year would be a breeze. My ass is getting raped

All I have left is the Spanish Oral, English Oral Presentation, and my History IA, then exams in May XD

I hope I am not forgetting anything...

hah if ib doesnt help with anything .... gahh

All I have left is my World Lit 2 and then I am finally done with all of that coursework. Only thing left is passing the actual exams. I can see the end of the tunnel, finally.

I can state with ABSOLUTE certainty that

IB workload > AP workload

and with a good degree of certainty that

5 IB > 5 AP (test scores)

IB difficulty > AP difficulty

Example: My comp sci AP teacher didn't know java. Didn't learn a thing all year. I had an 80 average because she would grade according to what she thought, which is often incorrect since she didn't know the language. I cram 1 month before the AP test and score a 3.

IB Biology. I have a 93 average and get a 6 on the exam. I end up with a 5 because of assessments and lab reports (they were awful).

Oh, and I have taken/are taking the following AP's

Chem: 89 average, 5
Govt: 93 average
Econ: 95 average

I have yet to study for government and economics, and I rarely did for chem.

but what about non-IB or AP???
IB is given a distinct advantage as with AP's. All places dont have it

Also, IB isnt as tough as what Im doing. But why is it discriminated against?

what are you doing, and have you taken IB classes?

One thing is that you can't say yours is better/tougher than something else w/o trying both.

hey, i think my 2 AP classes were harder than my IB classes. but does that mean i think AP is harder than IB? no. i had a 4 person AP comp sci class, of whom 2 ppl had been programming for years, and one was an overall genius. i wrote my first computer program on the second day of class. so, of course it was more difficult than IB. and there are times when AP teachers are simply better than IB teachers. my first year of HL english ended with a 100% average for the year.. but that's cause we had a new teacher who was a JOKE. that's not representative of IB. What it comes down to is that the typical IB class expects more than the typical AP class. there is, however, an enormous amount of exceptions to this rule
