I just found out that Berkeley orientation, Calso, costs $170.
It's kind of ridiculous. Is everyong going to be willing to pay that money to get information??
Hah. I think it might as well get a help from some friends who are attending at Berkeley now instead of paying the money to get same information. Do you agree?

What are the benefits I can get from attending for Calso compared to get those information from friends who already had been through the process??

It does! Thankfully I have a cousin at Berkeley who is just going to tell me all they say at Orientation (xD) and show me around! Some students say it’s a waste of money…but if you haven’t been there (recently even) you should definitely go!

oh I see. that’s what it is. I actually used to be a foreign exchange student at UC Berkeley for one semester. I guess I don’t need it. I will just ask my friends who used to live with me at Unit 1. Thanks! Yunie. see you one campus! : )

What is Calso? I mean, is it imperative that we go??? I found this:

You may only sign up for dates represented by your school or college. Parents and adult guests are welcome to attend; there is a $175 fee per person which includes meals. A student discount is available to Pell Grant recipients.

June 10 (Business, Chemistry, Engineering, Environmental Design, Letters & Science, Natural Resources)
June 16 (Chemistry, Environmental Design, Letters & Science)
June 24 (Chemistry, Engineering, Letters & Science, Natural Resources)
July 1 (Letters & Science)
July 8 (Letters & Science)

^CalSo I’m not exactly sure it just says "“Tele-BEARS Registration and Explanation” and they put up to 10units. I’m sure a past transfer can explain it to us how they do it.

they don’t let everyone sign up for registration at the same time. if your calso group doesn’t get to register at the earliest possible time just leave your group and goto the library and log in to the cal so website to get your registration code.

thanks for posting the dates and their respective colleges.
but this sucks, I can’t go to 6/10 one because I still have school that day. Thank goodness 6/24 will work for me.

I’ve talked to numerous transfer students who have gone to previous Cal student orientations for transfer and basically, we’re paying $165 to get those 10 units. -_-

wait are u automatically signed up to register for classes? or do we need to indicate somewhere that we WILL be registering for those 10 units during calso?
