I am an newly admitted EECS freshman from India, with no AP credits.Does berkeley offer placement exams for courses like Math 1A,1B ,53 and 54 and Physics 7A so that one could begin with some higher level courses?

Not that I know of besides getting 5’s on the AP exams for the corresponding courses or receive a community college equivalent credit…
At least no one is gonna restrict you from taking higher level courses right away. But sooner or later you have to take those courses if you were not AP-ed out.

You’ve got two options:

There’s an honors version of Math 1B, 53, 54, and Physics 7A-7C, which should be more of a challenge for you.

There’s something called “credit by examination” where, with the professor’s permission, you can pay 5 bucks, fill out a form, and take the final for a P/NP grade instead of taking the course.

However, A-level and IB scores are accepted for some types of credit.
