I’m taking bio 1 this fall and was wondering if taking bio 2 next fall would make it difficult for me since I would probably forget a lot of information from bio 1. I was wondering the same for physics. If I took physics 1 one fall and 2 the next fall.
Is there a good reason why you want to take them only in the fall? IMO it’s always better to take classes in sequence over a single school year. I think bio in general is a little easier to split up like that, but second semester Physics almost always builds upon first semester Physics.
Based on what you said I’ll probably take physics in the same year then. Only reason why I’m splitting bio in the first place is because I’m forced to take a math class in the spring so I don’t want to take too many STEM classes in one semester since I’ll be taking chem 2+lab.
I would also recommend you speak to your advisor- they might have more info on how other students have handled similar situations in the past.
Honestly, the biggest factor is the professor teaching the class. If it’s a good professor, take it. If it’s a bad one, wait a semester.
I don’t think that Physics II builds on Physics I, but it depends on what your particular school’s curriculum is. In most colleges, Physics I is physics of motion, primarily. A lot of potential/kinetic energy, springs, collisions, etc. Physics II is COMPLETELY different in that it deals with things like electricity and optics. It’s not like there are formulas you learn in Physics 1 that will carry over to Physics 2. The “sequel” to Physics 1 would be more like Mechanics and Physics 2 would have E&M.
Also with physics classes, check the prereqs. You’ll most likely have to take Calc I before/during Physics 1 and Calc II for Physics II. That’ll also dictate when you can take the classes.
