Does Bowdoin send out "likely" letters?

I know this is probably not a “likely” letter at all, but I can dream right? Well here it is:

Dear Jacob:

I am delighted that you have chosen to apply to Bowdoin College. My colleagues and I look forward to learning more about you in the coming weeks.

I am writing to let you know that your application for admission to the Class of 2011 is complete and is currently being evaluated by the Admissions Committee. We appreciate your efforts to make sure that we received your records and recommendations promptly. If, during our review process, we find that we need additional information, we will contact you or your high school guidance counselor directly.

Best wishes for a very successful and enjoyable year.

Sincerely yours,

William M. Shain
Dean of Admissions and Financial Aid

Anyways, I believe this is a general letter everyone gets after their application file is complete, but I can dream heh. It stuck out to me that they said they appreciated that I made sure they got all my materials. I actually used delivery confirmation and all this stuff to make sure they got everything nice and early and on time heh. I am probably wrong, and everyone else gets this.

yes, everyone gets that. if they were going to send out a likely letter, it wouldn't be until late winter or springtime. and if you applied ED/ED2, it wouldn't happen at all.

(there are, of course, possibly a few exceptions to this rule in very special cases - "recruited" athletes or etc.)

I just got the same letter, (3/1/07). I was trying to read something into it, but I guess not. It's just a waiting game. What are your stats - for Bowdoin?
